A few weeks into her stay, I had an incident happen at home and I was unable to visit for about a week. When I showed up to visit, it was like I was seeing a different person. When I had last saw her she was laying in bed having to be sedated most of the time. And a week later when I visited she was sitting up in bed eating. I started to realize that maybe these people know what they're doing and they don't need me to micromanage everything.
Simply put, this play saved my mother's life. And for me to say that after my initial experience is worth a lot. When my mom was transferred there, she was on a ventilator and was not breathing on her own. The ICU where she came from gave her a very poor prognosis after a stroke. She had staph in her lungs and UTIs.
Bad Bad Bad!! no communication, bad customer service, people just collecting a check. I wouldn't send my dead dog there..
We live a bout an hour and a half from Nashville so my sister and I stayed in Nashville around the clock for at least the first week. I know I must have been a pain to deal with because I tried to micromanage everything from the nursing staff flushing my mothers pict lines to the schedule when they turned her in the bed. When I voiced my concerns, the director of nursing and the director of respiratory therapy met with me and I even spoke with the doctors on several occasions about her medications and the best route to take.they were very accommodating even when I was being a pain.
If you don't see improvement right away with your loved one or if you happen to walk in and their hair looks like it didn't get washed that day..... these are very minor details compared to how knowledgeable and skilled the doctors, respiratory staff, rehab staff and nurses are at this place. When speaking with the doctors, many who are specialists, it is evident that they have studied their field and can be trusted to make the best decisions.
