I have been to the Frist many times (I work next door) over the past 7 years. The food is great and I love the soups. However, the server Shane seems to ruin my experience every time he is working. It started off with me constantly getting the wrong soup, which I never realized until I had gotten back to my office. I just thought of it as an honest mistake until I realized that every time I got the wrong soup, Shane had taken my order. I now believe that he purposely selected the wrong soup. Prior, to all of this he was rude to me a few times, which I would just ignore. However, one day I sat down at the Frist and observed how he treated other people and I noticed that he treated Caucasians with a completely different attitude, after which I began to think that maybe he's a racist jerk. I wasn't bothered by Shane's lack of kindness for all people, though there were a few times I decided not to eat at the Frist because he was working at the register and there were a few time I asked someone else to take my order. Things appeared better, until here recently. Last week, when I arrived at the Frist Shane was preparing orders. I placed my order before 4 other people, which happened to be Caucasian. No problem because the Frist is a first come, first served kind of place, so I thought. I was the last person to get my food, even though I ordered before the others did. After witnessing this I was about to ask why I had not received my food, but then I saw who was preparing the food, not to my surprise, Shane was preparing the orders. Today, I went over (from the federal court house) for lunch and I ordered the tuna melt. Got back to my desk and the sandwich was lukewarm on the top and cold in the middle. This caused me to lose my appetite and I threw my food in the garbage. As I stated it is my believe that this racist jerk, Shane is doing this on purpose and he should find another line of work if he doesn't like African American people.
Amazing place. Love the tea and the cheese cake. Lovely employees. Definitely a nice place to have lunch. Been here a few times and it always has the best view, the nicest employees, and the decent food (i like the dessert best). Favorite cafe in all of downtown Nashville tbh.
Excellent food, reasonable price, nice service. The music from 6-8pm on Thursdays & Fridays add a nice quality.
