Coffee shop with food. We came for shrimp and grits, but it’s no longer on the menu. Got the nap grits, small portion but tasty. My friend got the Monty Christo biscuit and said it was good. I’d go back.
The total for these disappointing plates of food was $32.04 (we got coffee, which was the best part).
I have given this place way too many chances. This most recent time, my friends' food came out twenty minutes after mine (only after we asked what the holdup was). My friend's fries were burnt and didn't taste like potato. My kale salad was totally raw (generally with kale salad, you're supposed to salt and dress it and let it stand for a bit so that the kale softens a bit) and there was maybe one sad tablespoon of feta added. The last time I went, I just ordered a coffee drink, and the server forgot to make it, I only got it once I complained after 15 minutes. If you are lucky enough to get good service, there coffee drinks are decent, but order at your own risk, and I and many others have had terrible food experiences. Never going again.
We ordered: Farmers Omelet and The Standard. You can see from the picture that there was about a tablespoon of breakfast potatoes on mine, and what is hidden are the two massive dollops of cream cheese that I asked them to leave off. Undercooked onions, 1 quarter piece of zucchini and 2 quarter pieces of squash was what made this a “farmers omelet.” Sigh.
We all know that the trolls will say “if you think you can make it better, you didn’t have to go out to eat.”
Food selection and staff are excellent. The place definitely has it's own unique atmosphere and vibe compared to others in the area- which I love. I visit often and I'm never disappointed.
Great coffee and brunch menu. Large seating area for a coffee shop including outdoor seating. I like to study here often or grab a casual lunch with friends.
Also, the register girl didn’t mention it, but salmon is a $3 upcharge, not an included meat, as suggested.
My wife’s plate had the same sad amount of potatoes along with overdone eggs, and a bagel that was rubbery, stale, and under- toasted.
The manager did oblige my request for more potatoes (thanks!). Perhaps today was an off day, but we will likely not return.
The point is that we didn’t want to cook and we expect a restaurant/cafe to provide us with food that is better than expected since they are a dining establishment.
