Locally sourced ingredients. Modern Southern fare re-imagined by a celebrity chef, and served in a glorious historic mansion. This formula should work if the menu delivers on taste and retains the soul of Southern cooking. The shrimp and grits ($16) starter was magical, a warm, satisfying umami explosion. The barbecued spaghetti squash johnny cakes and sorghum butter ($12) starter was instantly forgettable. The pancakes were bland on their own and only mildly intriguing with the flavored butter. The grilled North Carolina catfish/cabbage/apple/malt/buckwheat main course ($30) was a confusing mess. The delicate catfish was overpowered by the dark malt coating and the distracting buckwheat sprinkle. When the cabbage is the star of this dish, something is amiss. Overall course presentation lacked polish and fell short of complimenting the spectacular venue. If not for the overpriced style over substance pretentiousness of the first impression, I would return for a redemption course to see if the South really lost its soul at this over-hyped restaurant.

Utterly fantastic. The 24 month ham appetizer was incredible. Both entrees (trout and pork prime rib) were very tasty. Dessert was the best. We came here for an anniversary dinner and we could not have been more satisfied. One of the best meals I've ever had. Can't recommend Husk enough.

The only reason that my review is receiving two stars, not one, is because of our first courses and cocktails. My fiance and I loved Husk in Charleston, SC and were so excited when we found out that there was a Husk in Nashville, TN. We originally heard of the restaurant on an Anthony Bourdain episode and have since watched anything we could on Sean Brock and his creations. However, the experience wasn't anything similar to the amazing experience we had in Charleston. We received our first courses, the oysters and bone marrow, very quickly and they were both great. It took a long time to receive our second course, which I am usually fine with when we are expecting amazing, fresh food. My steak was mediocre, I have had better at a steakhouse chain (which is seriously embarrassing for me to even admit). My greens and beans smelled and tasted like literal throw up. My fiances pork prime rib was tough and tasteless. I would recommend the Charleston location any day, but will never go back to the Nashville location. We were so very excited to have the experience of each individual bite being something new and every ingredient being fresh and bringing something to the plate; this was not the case at the Nashville location.

I was very happy with the service and food. I was a little worried based on some of the reviews here. My advice is to ask questions about the menu and ask your waiter lots of questions. Hands down our server was one of the best I have had since moving to Nashville. The ribeye was cooked perfect for medium rare. Shrimp and grits we're fantastic. Thanks aged ham was terrific. The Nelson cocktail was delicious also. All in all I would recommend this place.

Excellent food, drinks and service. Jonna went out of her way to make this a memorable dining experience, she even emailed me a list of places to explore in Nashville. I would recommend this to anyone wanting fresh, local, creative meals. They update the menu twice a day so there should be something new to try all the time.
