An awesome and FREE place to take the kids on a hot summer day. The only thing I don't like is that the way it's designed leaves a lot of places for the kids to get out of your sight. You have to be hyper vigilant with children who impulsively run to different areas.
My son loves this place. It's wide open; it's right along the water; it has a place for running up and down. It's got a cool little slide and wall-climbing area, and even a water spray place.
The grassy area makes it feel a little cooler than the rest of the city. It's a little quieter, and if you get up on the river, there's a nice view of Downtown.
Oh, and if it’s one day after Labor Day, the splash pad won’t be open. The fact that they don’t have a life guard and are therefore not dependent on student’s schedules and the fact that it’s 95 is apparently irrelevant!
Great little urban park near the stadium: stupid name.
Great place to go relax, watch ships or trains go by. Easily accessible fun water spouts. All in all a great place to hang out and have fun.
Great spot to bring your dogs and hang out. My dogs were ready to go after a short bit of playing because the park is a little small, but perfect for smaller to medium sized dogs. It would be nice if there was some sort of structure for shade as well. The picnic tables are nice, but in the Summer it can be pretty brutal.
Great access to the bridge over the Cumberland. Used frequently for special events photographs. Handicapped accessible. Parking is free unless there is a special event. There is a nice grass area that overlooks the river. There are structures for kids to play on but not a playground, per se.
