Kid and Family friendly. Great place to swim, boat, kayak, float, or BBQ. Enjoy the lake!
Very good place for a day picnic.there atr Bbq stands and we can prepare our own BBQ . Make sure you have ample of BBQ material. Lake is small but safe.
There's a sand beach for the swimmers and public grills next to picnic tables. Is the sand as white as the beaches of the redneck rivieras, nope. However, I've seen smaller waves on the beaches of the Gulf Coast than the wakes that are created from the boats at the lake here.
Nice sandy swimming beach area, and we even loaded in our inflatable kayak as well. Great spot for family fun. Community grills and picnic tables available. $5 per visit or $40 for an annual pass. Definitely worth it.
Cook public use area is one of my favorite spots to visit early on a nice weekend day before it gets busy. It is typically quiet and peaceful before 8:00 in the morning on the weekends. There is a small beach area with sand, it does however get rocky near the waters edge, so plan accordingly. There is a charge per carload for access, or you can buy a yearly pass that gets you into all Army Corps Of Engineers recreation areas. There are also shelters, picnic areas/tables, grilles, playground equipment, a boat ramp, and public restrooms available.
Bring you're bathing suits, charcoal and $5 to park. Oh, and don't drive on the grass or the ranger will scold you!
