Not that kid friendly. Having a kid play zone doesn't mean kid friendly. Online they boast about having an "open exhibit" (not roped off), and they have a kid play area, but the exhibit cars are not to be touched. Wish they had stated this online, would not have brought my son here if I had known ahead of time he wouldn't be able to express his appreciation and love for cars (he just wants to put his hands on them, nothing more). Really interesting collection, just not somewhere to bring a car loving kid.
Visiting from out of town, this was on our list of possible things-to-do. So glad we decided to visit! I was expecting the usual 'cool' cars (European exotics). While they do have a few of those, they have so many really really cool mini cars (BMW Isetta, FIATs) and rare models (SAAB Sonnet, Toyota Century) and lots of prototypes. And bikes, motorcycles, snow vehicles, and even several airplanes. DON"T be afraid to take non-car people with you - there is something there that everyone will connect with (if not - check their pulse). Spend the extra $6 for the Basement Tour. Awesome way to spend 2-3 hours of your visit, especially in bad weather. Make sure you have plenty of free storage space on your phone - you WILL take lots of pictures. Love it!
One of the best exhibits/museums I have been to. A really nice collection of cars, bikes and motorcycles well displayed and each with a short but informative sign about the object. Outside in a separate garage there are the larger vehicled. There were several short and interesting videos, a really nice area for kids to play, a vending area, a scavenger hunt game for anyone interested in making the visit a bit competitive, and a gift shop. On the weekends there is a tour of the workshop area in the basement. I was quite impressed with how well the place is managed - everything was super clean and well organized.
Very cool collection of strange European Cars, bicycles and motorcycles/mopeds. Staff was extremely nice. Highly recommended if you have any interest in automotive industry. Spent about 2 hours going through everything, glad I finally made it over there. Closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so be aware of that.
A terrific car collection awaits inside the doors. The identification cards with each car give thorough information that really adds to the enjoyment.
