I was pretty unimpressed with the tour, house, and grounds. I feel there are better places to go for a more concise and informational tour in the Nashville area. The museum that visitors view before the tour has a LOT of facts to take in and I was not sure what I was supposed to get out of it. Traveler's Rest's website advertises Mississippian Indian mounds but they are no where to be found (apparently the house is built on top of one?). The house was used as a railroad office so its not as authentic or ornate as some of the other Nashville historic homes. The tour was okay but we spent a lot of time in some rooms and glanced over others. Overall, there are just better places to go for the same amount of money.

Was too late for a tour, but poke around and read things. Seems cool. Wish I had more time. It's kind of hard to find too.

Best hidden historical gem in Middle Tennessee. If you want the best people to share the history of TN come hear and ask questions! Great group of Docents. Fantastic summer camp program.

Interesting place to visit. This plantation is unlike others in the Nashville area. Its one of the best antebellum (pre Civil War) sites to visit in greater Nashville. Fun and informative visit.

Visited Travellers Rest on a field trip with my daughter. There were 4 buildings we toured. The welcome/gift center, the Main house, the schoolhouse, and the barn, which is not historic, but built to blend in and used for events. The thing I liked about this place versus other historic museums, is that while the guides dressed for the 1840's, they did not go method and stay in character. That always freaks me out. They were knowledgeable and good with the kids.
