I’m so happy to have found Skin Solutions Dermatology! I have always had issues accompanying sensitive skin, and only 1 in 5 dermatologists I’d seen before has taken the time to really look at my skin for more than a glance before prescribing the latest steroid cream. So I was sad to say goodbye to her when I moved to Nashville. BUT now I’ve met the team at Skin Solutions Dermatology, and I’ve got new hope for actually learning more about what might be causing my skin reactions rather than just putting Band-Aids on them.
Kelly Caudle is amazing. She was extremely thorough explaining why my skin was in its current condition, and what steps I would need to take to get to a better spot. I have been to dermatologists who walk in, write a prescription, and don't ask any questions or offer advice. Kelly acted as a consultant and my skin is looking great as a result. Visit her!!
I visited a couple years back when I was just a high schooler with bad acne. My first visit here was pretty good. I felt welcome and was treated professionally. I had a bad case of acne on my back and small cysts on my jawline. I was prescribed Accutane my first visit there and she told me that she is going to "start me off on a high dose". I was told to take this pill twice a day and that it had many risks and side effects. Over the course of 4 weeks I was taking accutane twice a day as prescribed but to my dismay my acne got even worse. My chest was breaking out, my back not getting better and my face was in constant pain because of my breakouts and cysts. My second visit there was extremely upsetting. Prior to that I went with my mom to her appointment with Dr. Kelly for something totally irrelevant to my case because it was my mom's appointment. While my mom was being examined I wanted to ask her a question about my acne because my next appointment was not until next week. But to my dismay she gave my a finger over her mouth and said that because it wasn't my appointment that she wouldn't answer me. Really? I was YOUR patient. My face, chest, and back was in extreme pain from all of the breakouts and I was going through high school with depression and anxiety. It was very upsetting to me but I opted to just wait until it was my time. Come to my next appointment date and she didn't seem to remember me at all. I felt like I was being treated unfairly. Dr. Kelly saw how bad my acne was and asked me "So why did put you on such a low dose last time?". No ma'am, you told that I was being started off on a high dose the first time I visited. And that was it, just prescribed a higher dose of accutane and I was on my way. After my 3rd refill of accutane I never went back. I come to find out that I was supposed to take Accutane 12 HOURS APART. That it completely different from twice a day. I ended up taking the second pill like 5-8 hours after the first and that caused me to break out severely. This could be my fault but details like this should be emphasized to the patient. In the end, I had an overall horrible experience at this place. My face did clear up in the end but my chest was left severely scarred. To the point I'm too afraid to expose any part of it, and that sucks. She did a good job putting those steroid shots in my face to get rid of the scar tissue though, I'll give her that.
Honestly, this place felt like a scam. I made an appointmemt to address my occasional breakouts and was given a detailed skin care routine and prescriptions to use. While this was great, the costs and product pushing was not. The prescriptions that were supposed to last for 3 to 4 weeks cost over $150 with insurance. Then, I was told I needed to use separate morning and night face washes, as well as a night time moisturizer, all which were exclusively sold in the front of the store and were extremely over priced. I was given no substitutions or given any recommendations that were more reasonably priced. I'll take an occasional breakout to a +$300/month skincare regimen any day and I will not be back.
I am very disappointed with the customer service I experienced during and after my appointment. I gave 2 stars because the clinic was clean and professional, and I didn't have to wait long. When I got into the exam room, the doctor did all the talking and didn't really listen to my concerns. As soon as I said I'd buy something from the front desk, she rushed me out the door in less than 5 minutes, with many of my questions unanswered. She wrote a prescription that gave me (what every website said was serious) side effects. When I called to inquire about it, I had to leave a message, and a receptionist called me back (not a nurse or the doctor) 3 hours later and relayed a message from the doctor that "the symptoms I was experiencing were not known side effects of the drug." I told her that I was 100% sure the symptoms I had were a direct result of taking the drug. 6 hours later, the receptionist called me back and said, "stop taking the drug." No other consultation. No alternative treatment. No concern whatsoever. Pretty disappointing and unprofessional, unfortunately.
