Had 2 awesome experiences last year but today’s was really disappointing. Brought in pictures from my last haircut that i loved and explained that i wear my hair up and back almost every day as a mom - and that i HAD to be able to pull it back. Im about to have another baby.

Everyone is very friendly and I really loved the atmosphere and the massage. But I went here a handful of times for multiple services and was never quite happy with any of the stylists and the cuts/color provided to me. Went to one and got bangs that somehow got shorter with every visit. Did color and it was way darker than I had asked for. There were times I went in for a cut and when I left it didn't look like anything had been done. My last visit, a stylist who had been there for years couldn't even properly blowout my hair. I was actually embarrassed to go pick up dinner that night because I didn't feel I looked good at all. It was really a low point and despite coming in with pictures and explaining in detail to each stylist every time, I felt like there must be something wrong with me or my hair must be unstylabe. Last night I went to another salon in west Nashville based on google reviews and for the first time in 3 years loved my hair and I did nothing different than what I did at Jon Alan. I'm very happy with my new place and I encourage everyone to find a place that works for you. Don't accept bad haircuts or anything that doesn't make you happy!

**Also, Aveda is owned by Estee Lauder, which is absolutely not a cruelty free brand given that they sell their products in China were it is illegal to sell such products without first testing on animals in quite horrific manners. If you're looking for cruelty free products this is not the place for you. Don't let the bunny fool you. It is misleading advertising, to put it lightly.

It’s not long enough to pull back all the way.

Everyone was extremely nice. I have shopped around Bellevue for 6 years for a stylist who could cut my curly hair so that it grows out well and styles easily. Brenda finally got it right! The stylist who took care of my mom (Desiree?) was also amazing! This salon really trains their stylists to listen to the client. I never once felt like they were doing what they thought was best without our consideration. Also, I did not feel pressure to purchase the products they recommended (although I did feel tempted)

The service was ok. A bit rushed, but I like the team work style the use to keep things flowing. The girls who handle the between steps are super sweet. Honestly, I really enjoy getting my hair and treatments done here except one strange thing. There seems to be a huge rule that you cannot even mention using salon grade products outside of Aveda, judging by how awkwardly the stylist skirt the conversation when trying to explain what products are used on their customers' hair. You'd think they'd realize the importance of knowing that information while working with customers who really care about the health and ethics of their hair products. It can be so frustrating not to be able to truly communicate with your stylist and then having the awkward void they created be filled with a plug for their own products. Why would I only use one brand of product on my hair? I don't need to be shamed for diversity in the products I use. If anything, their strange interacting style when it comes to the topic ensures I will absolutely not buy any product from them ever. Needless to say, I'm presently looking for a salon that lets me have open and honest conversation in an otherwise comfortable environment.
