We've lived in several metropolitan areas and visited various zoos. The Nashville Zoo is our favorite. When we travel to Nashville we always make time to take our children to its zoo. Other zoos may have more animals, although this zoo's list is definitely respectable. The layout lends to a sense of adventure as you explore. Our children especially love their meerkat exhibit, the noisy gibbons, the bamboo forest, and the newer African section. Almost as important is the playground. I would pay the annual membership fee just for the playground. There is a covered jumping pavilion just for younger children. An enormous wooden castle with many levels and "secret" passageways to find. Multilevel rope climbing section. A great place for families.
This is a fantastic zoo to visit! I've been coming since I was 8, and I'm 21 now! Great place for families, friends, and couples! The zoo has been renovating the past couple months, and the exhibits are absolutely stunning and amazing. Lots of fun, interactive places and activites for everyone to enjoy. The park is very clean and well-taken care of, and the animals look very happy (the most important part). Admission is very reasonable (about 16 dollars for an adult, five dollars for parking), and well worth it! There are lots of exhibits to see, and it takes about 2 hours to get through everything (that's for two adults, I'm sure families could spend a lot longer!!). Also enjoyed their new restaurant--a bit pricey, but fast, fresh, and hot! Love this zoo, definitely worth the visit!
The people that work at the Nashville zoo are very pleasant and helpful. They have a lot of things that kids enjoy like a playground or bouncy houses but their selection of animals is very very lacking. Maybe I am biased because I grew going to the Cleveland and Columbus (where Jack Hanna works) zoos but Nashville zoo is very different. It has no great apes, few large African animals, few large cats, etc... But if you have small children or children that have not been to a big zoo your kids will love it.
I’m originally from Nashville, Tn, and it has been years since I’ve been to the Zoo. Nashville Zoo has grown so much, and it was great to see it looking amazing and I love how much they’ve added to it. Thank you Nashville Zoo for making it feel like home when I was there with family. Love, Love, Nashville Zoo, I highly recommend going. You won’t be disappointed. Also the animals are amazing and you can definitely tell how great they are being taken care off.
Great little zoo. My family and I visited on a cool September day and enjoyed all the attractions. Parking is a little like the wild west, people just parked on the grass in places, who knows if they had permission. Admission is not too bad, it cost me around $60 for my four person family plus parking. This zoo is not stuffed with animals, but the enclosures they do have seem to be focused on quality over quantity. The only part I did not like was the Unseen New World, was so hot in there with all the people. Ended up being cooler outside in the sun in September. My family and I will be back.
