I DESPISE THIS!!! They claim I was overpaid back in 2011. My original "overpayment" was $440.00. Now I owe $3500!!!! Is this even legal??? I have paid them over $2000 which was taken from my income tax return 3 TIMES... The interest is truly unreal! I have "appealed" this 3 times and they still deny my appeal simply because I didn't appeal the first overpayment (which I had no idea that I was "overpaid") wasn't submitted in 15 days. I am truly thinking of taking legal action against these people. Has anyone else been through this?? If so please help me! I cannot afford to pay this back and on top of it all, they will not allow me to set up a payment plan. Also, I can NEVER get in touch with anybody. The interest just keeps adding up! Please somebody help me!
REPORT YOUR CASE TO THE FEDERAL DEPT OF LABOR. TENNESSEE IS ONE OF THE WORST STATES FOR BIG CORRUPTION SUPPORTED BY HISTORICAL CORRUPT COUNTIES LIKE RUTHERFORD COUNTY. IT ALL TIES IN AND FORMS AN ENORMOUS BOND THAT THE USDOJ AND FBI WANT NO PART OF. A decade of no justified spending, vanished hundreds of millions of dollars & local media information of testimonials, mixed with some simple 4th grade mathematics, show the sinister signs of EMBEZZLEMENTS that naive citizens of Rutherford county have let go unanswered for at least 10 years. TENNESSEE in general having great growth in population & revenue, forms the seeds & breeding grounds for statewide corruption.
Tried 3 different phone numbers and they all were automated. Call, wait and then leave message. So un-professional, ESPECIALLY, out of our state government.
I called, chose the proper options and got right through to claims; no issues. My employer claimed they never received the documentation required to be completed which I fail to believe. When I was working there, we received the information almost immediately after the date the claim was filed for the previous employer. But, they were nice to resend the information to get this process rolling. The representative was pleasant and empathetic.
This agency is a disaster! I was laid off as part of a group on 12/9/16. Filed for unemployment on 12/10/16. Received an email saying I had to provide a paystub to prove my income. Took almost a week to get from my employer. The second week I tried to certify I didn't see an option for on-line applications. The system told me I was determined as not eligible because I was not searching for a job. File an appeal. Second week still couldn't certify. Went to local office and they gave me a cheat sheet to certify on line if you are applying for jobs on line. No help because I was locked out of the system. Had my hearing on 3/6/17 and won my appeal. But I was also told that it was for that week only! What about the others where I couldn't certify. Today I get an email saying I don't qualify because of my reason for leaving a PREVIOUS job in 2015! Anyone interested in filing a CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST THE STATE?
After several reportings of obvious violations of employer wrong doing, I was stalled and finally not even responded to by one agent. The TDOL obviously controlled by those individuals that are being paid off by corporations and companies, to keep reported violations stalled, discouraging, suppressed & difficult for the vulnerable victims to get any protection or action at all. So contact the USDOL, and other agencies that take complaints. Eventually you will get someone that isn't influenced or corrupt. Sad but true.
